Coaching Staff
Gene Suhr Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach
Gene Suhr is in his first season on the Wildcat football coaching staff, serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Suhr comes to Wayne State after coaching 23 seasons at Papillion-LaVista High School, posting an impressive 174-74 mark as Monarchs' coach. He won Class A State Championships in 1990 and 1996 while earning state runner up finishes in 1985, 1995 and 1997. His overall high school coaching record was 200-95.
The University of Nebaska-Omaha graduate started his coaching career at Omaha Gross, where he served three seasons as an assistant coach. Suhr was named head coach at Ord High School in 1979 and compiled a 26-21 mark before being named head coach at Papillion-LaVista High School. _______________________________________________________________________________
Clint Brown Defensive Coordinator
Clint Brown is in his third season at Wayne State College as the team's defensive coordinator. In his first two seasons as the Wildcats' defensive coordinator, Brown has helped the WSC defense move up the NSIC defensive statistical categories. The Wildcats posted back-to-back shutouts in 2006 (28-0 at Minnesota, Crookston and 7-0 vs. Northern State) for the first time since 1976.
Brown comes to Wayne State from New Mexico State, where he was a defensive backs coach for two years. Prior to coaching at New Mexico State, Brown was a defensive coordinator at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. He also served as the team's recruiting coordinator and academic coordinator for the football program. While at Bethel College, the team posted an 8-2 record.
Before moving to Bethel College, Brown served as a graduate assistant at New Mexico State where he coached the linebackers and the secondary. Prior to New Mexico State, he served as a graduate assistant at University of Nebraska-Omaha (1996, defensive ends) and an assistant at Nebraska Wesleyan (1995, linebackers).
Brown earned two letters as a member of the Nebraska Cornhusker program. He was a member of the 1994 National Championship team that went 13-0, including a 24-17 win over Miami (FL) in the FedEx Orange Bowl. Brown also played in the 1993 FedEx Orange Bowl.
Brown received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nebraska in 1996 and earned his Master's Degree from New Mexico State University in 1999. A native of Arlington, Nebraska, Clint and his wife Stephanie reside in Wayne. _______________________________________________________________________________
Tim Triplett Graduate Assistant/Wide Receivers
Tim Triplett begins his first season with the Wayne State College football coaching staff, serving as a graduate assistant coach working with wide receivers.
Triplett played wide receiver at the University of South Dakota from 2001-05. He was elected team captain and Special Teams Player of the Year in 2005 for the Coyotes. He earned his bachelor degree from the University of South Dakota in contemporary media and journalism. Tim is a native of Iowa City, Iowa and is working towards a masters degree in sport management at Wayne State College.

Scott McLaughlin Graduate Assistant/Defensive Line
Scott McLaughlin is in his first season as a graduate
assistant football coach at Wayne State College, working with the
defensive lineman. McLaughlin is a graduate of the University of
Nebraska-Omaha and played defensive line for the Mavericks. He also
served as a student assistant at UNO and served as the team's video
coordinator for three seasons before coming to Wayne State College.
In high school, Scott earned Class A All-State honors
at Millard West after recording 11 sacks and 19 tackles for loss as a
senior to earn honorary captain honors on the Class A All-State
Defensive Team.
McLaughlin, who earned a bachelor's degree from the
University of Nebraska-Omaha in continuing education, is working on his
master's degree at Wayne State College in sport management and resides
in Wayne.
